World Myth and Landscape
All based on travel and research into the countries involved.
(These can be separate one-day projects - or can be put together to make a one-week project for the whole school)
Australia Day:
Dreamtime creation stories with an aboriginal art /puppetry storytelling workshop leading to a performance by the children for the school.
Ancient Egypt Day
Myths of Ancient Egypt followed by an Egyptian- art based puppet-making workshop leading to a performance by the children for the school.
Madagascar Day
Wildlife and ecology of Madagascar: Talk, songs and display followed by a puppet making and creative writing workshop, and performance by the children.
Africa Day
As performed in the Festival of the Niger in Mali. Myths and stories of Africa, followed by a shadow-puppetry workshop, creative writing and performance.
North American Indian Day
Animal stories form North-West America and Canada, followed by mask or puppet-making workshop, writing and performance by the children.
India Day
Stories from Rama and Sita, followed by a shadow-puppetry workshop and performance by the children. Mary can also offer Days on Vikings, Japan, St Lucia and New Zealand.
